About us and our organic kitchen
As a working mother of two, and through numerous school gate discussions with other parents, I know how difficult it is to try and find the time to cook nutritious, homemade meals every day. Coupled with trying to make sure your babies receive varied, wholesome meals 2-3 times a day – it is easy to understand why busy parents buy ready-made, off-the-shelf meals.
However, as parents we have total control over what our children eat and, for some, this is a frightening responsibility. Every parent wants to give their babies the best possible start in life - that is how the idea of ‘Pure’ was conceived – providing customers with high quality, affordable organic baby food – without the hassle of home-cooking.
Pure has had approval from the Soil Association as we believe their symbol is most recognised by consumers as a mark of the organic integrity of the product.
Pure’s recipes were developed in conjunction with expert advice from a qualified Nutritional Therapist – May Lauder – who is also a full member of the British Association of Nutritional Therapists (BANT) and has over 20 years experience in the catering industry.
Pure is registered with and regulated by the Public Protection Department at Carmarthenshire County Council. We have worked closely the our local Environmental Health Officer and all dishes have been microbiologically analysed at a food testing laboratory to ensure every aspect of their manufacture is as safe as possible from microbiological contamination. All staff are trained to Foundation Level in Food Hygiene.
In accordance with the Food Standard Agency strict requirements on food processing, to ensure the preparation and manufacturing processes are strictly adhered to, Pure has developed detailed HACCP procedures. We have stringent quality assurance methods such as having full traceability records in place which enable us to trace every single ingredient in every single dish right back to the farm, field or supplier we sourced it from.
EC regulations state that businesses must need to be licensed by a registered certification body to market their goods with reference to organic. This registration involves an application process including an on-site inspection by the certification body and therein, annual inspections to ensure you comply with the legal standards as set down by the EC and Defra. Achieving this standard requires the implementation of additional quality control systems to ensure that every ingredient use is from an approved organic supplier. Once the standard is achieved you can use the certification body’s logo on your products (with their approval) to demonstrate to customers that the dishes are 100% organic.
Pure has had approval from the Soil Association as we believe their symbol is most recognised by consumers as a mark of the organic integrity of the product.
